Embryo Mixup - Hmmm

I'm starting to wonder if that embryo mixup that has been in the news this week occurred at my clinic, or even the first clinic I went to? Why do I wonder you ask? Well because one of the couples involved lives in Troy, MI and the other in Toledo, OH. Most likely someone living in Toledo would have gone to an RE in southeastern Michigan (ie. metro Detroit) rather than trekking all the way to Cleveland. My clinic is in Troy. I know neither couple has revealed the name of the clinic involved and they don't plan to, but it certainly makes me wonder. I have a hard time believing it happened at my current clinic, I really do......but you just never know. They have our one and only frozen embryo; I hope it stays safe until we decide to do our FET.

  7. What a crazy story, those poor women, i can't imagine. I had a small mix up at my Gyno's office about 11 years ago with a woman with the same name and a similar birthday with me, but they just ended up telling me some test results and testing me for some STD's on accident, oops!! Now that i'm married, with a very uncommon last name, i'm sure i wont have this problem again!

  8. What an awful story. Can't imagine how either woman feels. There've been similar stories here in the UK. How on earth can they DO that?!

Hope your embie's safe and sound. xx
